Realme has officially launched the P4s 5G in India today, with prices starting at Rs 34,999 for the base variant, but the first sale won’t open until September 3, roughly a week after the launch event itself.
That gap is not incidental. Separating the announcement from the actual sale date is a standard playbook in consumer electronics: it gives a company a full news cycle to generate coverage and comparisons before demand has to convert into an actual purchase decision.
The spec sheet, a 144Hz Samsung AMOLED display, an 8,000mAh battery with 80W charging, and a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate paired with a dedicated HyperVision+ AI gaming chip, gives reviewers and comparison sites a full week to publish content before the sale window opens, effectively extending the launch’s visibility for free.
The Rs 3,000 bank discount and 12 months of no-cost EMI stacked on top of that gap serve the same purpose from a different angle: they reduce the effective price friction right at the moment demand is meant to peak, rather than at the announcement itself when most viewers aren’t yet ready to buy.
For founders launching a physical product, the lesson is in the sequencing, not the individual tactics: announce early enough to build a news cycle and let third-party validation accumulate, but hold the actual purchase moment until that validation has had time to compound.
Whether this specific week-long gap converts into strong first-sale numbers will depend on how the coverage in between lands, but the structural choice, decoupling launch from sale, is worth noting regardless of this particular device’s outcome.
On the camera front, the P4s 5G carries a 50-megapixel primary sensor with OIS alongside an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, catering to both everyday photography and low-light shooting.
The phone also carries IP69, IP68 and IP66 ratings for dust and water resistance, a combination not commonly found at this price point.
