That shift tracks with what actually drives satisfaction in a device most users keep for two to three years: camera quality differences are hard to perceive without side-by-side comparison, but running out of battery mid-day is a daily, visceral frustration that directly shapes how a user feels about their phone.

For a brand competing in India’s crowded mid-range segment, leading with a battery capacity number is also a cheaper way to differentiate than chasing marginal camera sensor upgrades, which have diminishing perceptible returns for most users compared to a genuinely longer battery life.

The broader lesson for any hardware category with multiple competing spec dimensions: the metric that becomes the marketing headline often isn’t the one that’s technically hardest to improve, it’s the one that most directly maps to a pain point users actually notice and complain about in daily use.
