Indian markets snapped a five-day losing streak on Monday with a sharp rally led by the Sensex.
The Sensex closed 776.29 points higher, up 1.02 per cent, at 76,835.78, while the Nifty rose 229.40 points, or 0.96 per cent, to 23,995.95.
The rally came as crude oil prices declined sharply after the United States and Iran paused military strikes, easing concerns over a prolonged conflict.
IT and bank stocks led the gains, with Eternal and IndiGo among the standout performers.
The session extended gains already visible at the market’s open earlier in the day.
This marks a reversal after five straight sessions of losses tied to an earlier spike in crude oil prices.
