Chhattisgarh carries the sharpest numbers: isolated areas forecast to exceed 204.5mm, with districts including Gaurela, Pendra, Marwahi, Balrampur and Surguja under an extremely heavy rain warning. That’s specific enough to reroute a delivery schedule around, not just a general caution.

The variation in alert duration matters too: most states are flagged through September 2, but Uttarakhand’s warning stretches to September 8. A business running fixed logistics schedules through the Himalayan foothills has a full week of elevated risk to plan around, not a single bad day.

None of this requires alarm, just the same discipline applied to a supplier’s delivery-risk notice: read the specific districts and dates named, not just the headline count of states, and build the response playbook before the rain actually disrupts the route.

IMD’s flash flood warnings are typically issued when very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected in a short window, raising the risk of sudden waterlogging, landslides and river-level surges.

Authorities in the affected districts have been advised to remain on alert, particularly in areas prone to landslides or where rivers and streams could rise rapidly during the heaviest spells.

The current alert spans a wide geographic band from the Himalayan foothills in the north to Chhattisgarh and Odisha in central and eastern India, reflecting an active monsoon system moving across the country.
