Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk arrived in New Delhi on October 21 with a delegation of nearly 100 companies, with the aim of raising bilateral trade from about 6 billion dollars to 10 billion dollars.

The business focus is clear. India is the second-largest Asian destination for Polish investment, Indian firms such as TCS, Infosys and HCL Technologies are present in Poland, and the India-EU trade agreement, signing of which is scheduled for December 16, could open more room for Polish machinery and food exports.

Defence and technology will also be on the table, with a meeting of the Joint Working Group on Defence likely and topics ranging from space and AI to mining and green energy.

No agreements have been confirmed, so the outcome of the October 22 talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the next thing to watch.

An India-Poland Business Forum is scheduled in New Delhi on October 22 and in Bengaluru on October 23, according to the same report.

In Bengaluru, Tusk will meet the governor and the chief minister and attend a business forum focused on high-technology industries, according to ThePrint.

Poland’s Minister of Finance and Economy, Andrzej Domanski, accompanies Tusk, along with a business delegation, according to The Tribune.

ThePrint reports that the delegation represents nearly 100 companies.

The leaders are expected to review ties that were elevated to a strategic partnership during Modi’s August 2024 visit to Poland, according to the reports.

Modi’s 2024 visit was the first official visit by an Indian prime minister to Poland in 45 years, and an Action Plan for 2024-2028 was adopted, according to ThePrint.

Defence cooperation is expected to be prominent, and a meeting of the Joint Working Group on Defence is likely, according to ThePrint.
