Entering the packaged-food industry without a conventional sector background, Pradeep Kumar Nayak and Rajesh Malia are developing Dakloni around quality, authentic Indian flavours and sustainable expansion.

Bhubaneswar, Odisha: In India’s highly competitive food and spice market, an emerging Odisha-based brand is seeking to combine the familiarity of traditional Indian cooking with the standards and presentation of a modern consumer-goods company.

Dakloni, a brand owned by Green Chocy Private Limited, is being developed by Founder and Director Pradeep Kumar Nayak and Co-Founder and Director Rajesh Malia. Based in Bhubaneswar, the company plans to build its presence progressively across India through an expanding product portfolio and partnerships with distributors and retailers.

Nayak entered the food and spice industry without a traditional background in packaged foods. He describes the experience as a learning-led entrepreneurial journey involving consumer preferences, ingredient sourcing, product quality, packaging, pricing, regulatory compliance and distribution.

“When I entered this industry, I did not begin with years of experience in spices or packaged foods. I began with the determination to understand the market properly, learn from every stage and build a brand that people could trust.”

— Pradeep Kumar Nayak, Founder & Director

That approach has helped shape Dakloni’s wider ambition: to become a contemporary Indian food brand offering authentic taste, consistent quality, hygienic handling and accessible products for everyday households.

Quality and consistency at the centre

Dakloni is positioning quality as one of its central operating principles. According to the company, its approach places particular emphasis on ingredient sourcing, hygiene, freshness, suitable packaging and consistency across product batches.

These factors are especially important in the food sector, where trust is tested each time a customer opens and uses a product. The founders believe repeat purchases will depend less on short-term discounts and more on the experience delivered through taste, aroma, reliability and value.

“Building a consumer brand requires more than launching products. It requires consistency, discipline and strong relationships across the entire business ecosystem.”

— Rajesh Malia, Co-Founder & Director

The company’s leadership says it intends to expand in a measured manner, ensuring that product development, distribution, sales, marketing and customer experience advance together.

Developing an everyday food portfolio

Dakloni’s portfolio covers spices and selected household food categories. Its current and planned offerings include turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala, chicken masala, biryani masala and vegetable curry powder, along with other traditional and blended spices.

The company is also developing products in categories such as dry fruits, atta, flour and selected grocery essentials. Rather than increasing the number of products solely to broaden its catalogue, Dakloni says its longer-term objective is to focus on categories in which it can offer a consistent consumer experience.

Packaging is expected to play an important role in that strategy. The brand is working toward an identity that combines cues associated with traditional Indian food with a cleaner, contemporary presentation suited to grocery stores, supermarkets, modern retail outlets and online marketplaces.

Distribution as a foundation for growth

As it looks beyond its home market, Dakloni considers reliable distribution essential to its expansion. The company plans to work with super stockists, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, supermarkets, institutional buyers and digital-commerce platforms.

Its proposed trade-support model includes product and pricing information, promotional material, retailer activation, sales assistance and measures to improve visibility at stores.

Dakloni says it wants to treat distributors and retailers as long-term business partners rather than merely intermediaries. The company will seek partners with strong knowledge of their local markets and an interest in building a sustained fast-moving consumer goods business.

This strategy is expected to emphasise product availability, retailer penetration and careful territory development over rapidly appointing large numbers of distributors.

Building physical and digital visibility

The founders also recognise that consumers increasingly encounter emerging brands online before seeing their products in stores. Dakloni therefore plans to use social media, public-relations campaigns, digital advertising, influencer collaborations, search visibility and e-commerce to support consumer discovery.

The company views these channels as a complement to physical distribution rather than a substitute for it. Its broader strategy is to connect online brand awareness with dependable product availability in local markets.

Although rooted in Odisha, Dakloni has ambitions to operate across India. Its leadership plans to study individual markets and adapt its product selection and distribution approach to regional preferences.

India’s culinary traditions vary widely, but the company believes consumers across regions share fundamental expectations concerning taste, quality, value and reliability.

A long-term entrepreneurial vision

Dakloni’s development reflects a founder journey built on entering an unfamiliar sector and acquiring knowledge from the ground up. For Nayak, the absence of a conventional industry background created an opportunity to question established practices and study how consumers and retailers evaluate food brands.

The next phase will require the company to turn that founder-led learning into stronger organisational systems. Its stated priorities include expanding its product range, improving quality processes, strengthening packaging, developing distribution infrastructure, increasing consumer awareness and building professional teams.

Competition in India’s food and spice category remains intense, and Dakloni’s founders acknowledge that recognition will take time. Their objective is to grow without compromising the standards on which consumer and trade confidence depend.

From its base in Bhubaneswar, Dakloni is now setting out to transform a learning-first entrepreneurial venture into a recognised Indian food brand—one product, retail partnership and consumer relationship at a time.
