Hunny Bhagchandani founded Torchit in Ahmedabad to develop assistive products for visually impaired people. Its early devices included technology intended to help users identify obstacles and navigate more independently.

Torchit appeared on Shark Tank India Season 1 asking for ₹75 lakh for 1% equity. The Sharks did not invest. The company therefore continued its development without an on-air deal, despite gaining national visibility from the programme.

Torchit expanded its product work after the show into a broader accessibility portfolio. Its operating ecosystem includes commercial assistive products and a foundation that accepts donations to support device access. Product specifications and individual outcomes should be evaluated for each device rather than treated as universal medical results.

An August 2026 update from MeitY Startup Hub reports that Torchit has affected more than 2 million lives, operates in more than 40 countries, offers more than 25 solutions, has raised over ₹8 crore and employs more than 50 people. The same update reports annual revenue above ₹22 crore for FY2025-26.

Those figures come from a government startup-support organisation’s company milestone post, not a published audited annual report. They are therefore attributed rather than described as independently audited accounts. A Zero Project report separately documents Torchit’s international distribution and financing model.

The company’s trajectory nevertheless extends well beyond the rejected pitch. As of August 25, 2026, Torchit remains active and is recognised for assistive-technology distribution, while the latest institutional update places annual revenue above ₹22 crore and international presence above 40 countries.

The Zero Project report describes a mixed funding model combining device sales, corporate-social-responsibility or government grants, and impact investment. That structure means reported revenue, funds raised and social-impact funding are separate measures and should not be added together. Torchit’s commercial progress is therefore best represented by the attributed ₹22 crore annual revenue figure and documented distribution presence.
